Domaine Le Comte – Cuvee Celine 2005
Clos Le Comte, located in Preignac in the heart of the Sauternes AOC (40kms south of Bordeaux) is an eight hectare domaine, six of which are in Sauternes; the remaining two are in Graves. The vineyards were first planted in 1929 and have been under the ownership of Jean Michel and Celine Lecomte since 2000. Working with passion and rigour, the Lecomtes practice “agriculture raisonée” working as near to organically as possible to ensure their wines are of the highest quality.
Wonderfully ripe, concentrated and complex fruit aromas. Rich bouquet with notes of dried fruits, almonds, apricots, fresh citrus and peach blossom. Well structured palate with a viscous density resulting from the high levels of botrytis. Beautiful acidity confers an excellent lively freshness on the wine. Spicy notes on the long finish. Excellent ageing potential. Suggested food pairings: foie gras, fruit and pastry desserts.
